As a charity organisation we depend on membership subscriptions and donations to further our work.

Family membership costs just £18 per year, and you can see the membership benefits and how to join below.

How to join

JOIN NOW FOR 2027 AND get the remaining months of 2026 FREE  –  Membership for 2027 includes the 2025 Annual Report due in the Spring AND you will receive a free copy of the 2024 Annual Report (subject to stocks). The Society’s membership year starts on 1st January and runs through to 31st December. It’s just £18 a year for family or individual membership. Full family membership is for all individuals living at the same address – adults and children.  Our bank details are ‘Leicestershire and Rutland Ornithological Society, sort code 40-28-06, account number 41125281’. It’s a business account.

Membership benefits

Each year, LROS members receive:

• Ten issues of the Society’s newsletter, The Grebe (one a month, with combined
  June/July and August/September issues)
• Annual Bird Report (usually sent with August/September or October newsletter)
• Access to the password-protected Members’ Area of the website, including:
  • Grebe back copies
  • Annual Reports
  • Searchable index of all rare bird records
  • Annually updated information on scarce species
  • LROS Library publication index
  • Request your own records

LROS members are also welcome to attend:

• All LROS indoor meetings (eight a year), free of charge
• LROS Outings to places of interest both locally and further afield.
