The first conservation task was completed recently at Hicks Lodge. The gravel island was cleared of invasive vegetation. This helps encourage nesting gulls, terns and waders. Both tern rafts were also cleared of weed and beached safely on the island. After some maintenance they will be refloated in the spring. Reed has also been cleared from in front of the Sand Martin wall.
