Hicks Lodge island clearance

November 2021

Thanks to the Hicks Lodge volunteers we were able to finish clearing the saplings from one of the islands. The aim is to keep this island covered with herbage and remove saplings. Hopefully it will encourage birds such as Redshank, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Common Terns and Skylarks to breed. Brash piles have been left for cover. The two tern rafts have also been secured and will be launched in the spring. The area in front of the hide was also cleared.
