Tuesday 30th

Rutland Water: 2 Great White Egrets, Lagoon 2 still, also presumably one of the same reported in the North Arm this morning, and 2 Black-necked Grebes still; Red-necked Grebe still the dam (usually at the south end, but does move around).

Monday 29th

Rutland Water: 2 Great White Egrets, Lagoon 3, also juv Marsh Harrier; Red-necked Grebe still at the dam.

Sunday 28th

Rutland Water: eclipse drake Ring-necked Duck flew in to Burley Fishponds at c10:30, stayed for 5 minutes, then flew off again with Tufted Ducks. Red-necked Grebe still at the dam.

Bardon Hill: 8 Pink-footed Geese flew over this morning, also 2 Redwings.

Saturday 27th

Rutland Water: Little Gull, Lagoon 4.

Friday 26th

Rutland Water: eclipse drake Ring-necked Duck again in Burley Fishponds this morning, with c3000 Tufted Ducks; 2 Black-necked Grebes still, Dickinson's Bay.

Longmoor Lake: 3 Stonechats along main path, c100 yards from the hide.

Wanlip Meadows: 1 Black-tailed Godwit & 2 Ruff.

Thursday 25th

Rutland Water: 2 Black-necked Grebes still, Dickinson's Bay + Little Gull, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: Little Tern at the island briefly late afternoon.

Bagworth Heath: 1 Stonechat.

Wednesday 24th

Rutland Water: drake Ring-necked Duck, Burley Fishponds; Red-necked Grebe still at the dam; 2 Black-necked Grebes still, Dickinson's Bay; Stonechat, Lagoon 1.

Eyebrook Res: adult Med Gull at the inflow this evening + 1 Dunlin.

Tuesday 23rd

Rutland Water: Great White Egret flew west over Manton Bay this morning; 7 Grey Plovers flew over Lagoon 4 this afternoon; Red-necked Grebe still at the dam; 2 Black-necked Grebes, Dickinson's Bay; Stonechat, Lagoon 1 (Mallard hide).

Brascote Pits: 3 Stonechats.

Sunday 21st

Rutland Water: female Scaup & Greenshank, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: 1 Ruff & 2 Dunlin.

Saturday 20th

Rutland Water: Jack Snipe still on Wet Meadow.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Curlew Sandpipers & 2 Dunlin still at the inflow.

Leighfield Fishponds: female Common Scoter.

Friday 19th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam, also 8 Common Scoters early afternoon; Greenshank & 3 Red-crested Pochards, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Curlew Sandpipers & 2 Dunlin still at the inflow.

Thursday 18th

Rutland Water: Little Stint still, Lagoon 4, also report of Bearded Tit, Lagoon 3, to the left of Shoveler hide.

Melton Mowbray: Wheatear at John Ferneley College this morning.

Wednesday 17th

Rutland Water: Jack Snipe, Wet Meadow.

Tuesday 16th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still off the dam; juv Little Stint, Lagoon 4; juv Curlew Sandpiper, Lagoon 1.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Ringed Plovers, 3 Dunlin & 2 Red-crested Pochards.

Cossington Meadows: Greenshank, 4 Black-tailed Godwits & 1 Ruff, also probable Wood Sandpiper flew off from Tern Pool early morning.

Monday 15th

Rutland Water: Curlew Sandpiper, Dunlin, Common Sandpiper & 2 Green Sandpipers, Manton Bay.

Eyebrook Res: 2 juv Curlew Sandpipers, 1 Ruff, 1 Ringed Plover & 3 Dunlin at the inflow; juv Little Gull & Dunlin at the island + 2 Red-crested Pochards between the inflow & Stoke Dry car park.

Wanlip Meadows: Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Ruff & 2 Green Sandpipers.

Cossington Meadows: 3 Whinchats at the north end of The Moor, also Black-tailed Godwit & Ruff.

Sunday 14th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still off the dam; no news either way on Spotted Crake today.

Swithland Res: 2 Garganey + Green Sandpiper on the north side, from the Kinchley Lane railings.

Wanlip Meadows: Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin & 9 Green Sandpipers.

Saturday 13th

Rutland Water: Spotted Crake from Snipe hide this evening; Red-necked Grebe still at the dam; Little Stint & 2 Common Sandpipers, Manton Bay; Greenshank & 3 LRPs, Lagoon 4; 3 Green Sandpipers, Dunlin & several Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Curlew Sandpipers still at the inflow.

Cossington Meadows: Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit & 2 Common Sandpipers.

Friday 12th

Rutland Water: Little Stint, Shallow Water hide; 2 Knot, 3 Greenshanks & 1 Ruff, Lagoon 4; 2 juv Marsh Harriers, 7 Red-crested Pochards (5 males), Greenshank, Dunlin & 2 Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 3; Black-tailed Godwit & Ruff, Lagoon 1.

Eyebrook Res: 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 4 Dunlin, 1 Ruff & 1 Ringed Plover.

Thursday 11th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still off the dam. Also news on the wing-tagged juvenile female Marsh Harrier (green tag on each wing with SI in black) seen on 8th September at least: this was ringed as a nestling at a site in North Norfolk on 14th June this year.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Dunlin & 2 Ruff.

Cropston Res: Green Sandpiper at the dam.

Wednesday 10th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still off the dam; 2 Black-tailed Godwits, Dunlin & 16 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3; Little Gull & 4 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4; 8+ Ruff & 5+ Green Sandpipers around the reserve.

Eyebrook Res: juv Little Stint, 2 juv Curlew Sandpipers, Sanderling, 3 Ruff, 5 Dunlin & 1 Common Sandpiper. NB - the stint seems to spend most of its time along the east bank of the inflow channel, so is often only visible (distantly) from just north-east of the bridge.

Longmoor Lake: 1 Whinchat.

Tuesday 9th

Eyebrook Res: Little Stint again at the inflow this afternoon, from the viewing area on the Leics bank, also Sanderling, Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Ruff & 3 Dunlin there + Greenshank & Common Sandpiper at the island.

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still off the dam.

Monday 8th

Rutland Water: Wryneck in front of Grebe hide this afternoon; Red-necked Grebe still at the dam; Black-necked Grebe still, North Arm; Bittern, Lagoon 3; female type Marsh Harrier with green tags on both wings, Lagoon 2.

Eyebrook Res: Little Stint on the Rutland shoreline this evening, about half way between Stoke Dry car park and the inflow, on spit near the willows. Also 3 Dunlin & 1 Ruff at the inflow.

Sunday 7th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam.

Eyebrook Res: juvenile Little Stint at the island this morning, but no sign this afternoon, also Greenshank. 3 Ruff & 3 Dunlin at the inflow.

Brascote GP: male Redstart along main track this evening.

Longmoor Lake: 4 Whinchats & 2 Wheatears.

Albert Village Lake: 1 Dunlin.

Saturday 6th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam, also female Redstart in trees at the Sykes Lane end; Wood Sandpiper, 7 Ruff & Green Sandpiper, Lagoon 1; Greenshank, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: Marsh Harrier flew north at 17:20, also 2 Ruff at the inflow.

Stoughton Airfield: 2 Whinchats at end of old runway on north-west side.

Friday 5th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam.

Thursday 4th

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam.

Kelham Bridge: 2 Marsh Harriers again this morning at least.

Swithland Res: Garganey on south side of the causeway.

Wednesday 3rd

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam; Spotted Redshank, Garganey, 5 Ruff & 2 Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 1; 2 Greenshanks & 3 Ringed Plovers, North Arm.

Kelham Bridge: 2 Marsh Harriers this morning (also one yesterday evening); flew off high west.

Longmoor Lake: 3 Whinchats.

Cossington Meadows: Whinchat in field on the left at the end of the track.

Eyebrook Res: 3 Ruff & 1 Common Sandpiper.

Tuesday 2nd

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the dam; 2 juv Marsh Harriers, Lax Hill; Sanderling, Little Gull, 3 Greenshanks, 2 Black-tailed Godwits & 3 Dunlin, Lagoon 4; Wood Sandpiper, 3 Garganey, 5 Ruff & 1 Green Sandpiper, Lagoon 1; 3 Garganey, Red-crested Pochard & 3 Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 3; Black Tern, North Arm.

Bradgate Park: male Redstart behind the Pheasantry, also female Redstart by the gate from the Cropston/Anstey footpath.

Longmoor Lake: 2 Whinchats.

Cossington Meadows: 2 Common Sandpipers.

Monday 1st

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe still at the south end of the dam; Black-necked Grebe, Black Tern & Common Sandpiper, North Arm; Wood Sandpiper, 9 Ruff & 3+ Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 1; Greenshank, 2 Ruff & 2 Common Sandpipers, Lagoon 4.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Ruff at the inflow; 3 Greenshanks & 3 Common Sandpipers south-west of the island.

Longmoor Lake: 5 Whinchats.
