Monday 31st

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still in Manton Bay, from Shallow Water hide or Manton Bridge, also 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 10 Ruff, 2 Green Sandpipers & 4 Dunlin; Grey Plover, 2 Ruff, 35+ Dunlin, 6 Ringed Plovers & 29 Red-crested Pochards, Lapwing hide; 8 Red-crested Pochards, North Arm.

Cossington Meadows: 2 Short-eared Owls over Swan Meadow this evening (from 17:05).

Sunday 30th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still in Manton Bay, from Shallow Water hide or Manton Bridge; drake American Wigeon, Curlew Sandpiper, Grey Plover, Short-eared Owl, 9 Ruff, c30 Dunlin & 20+ Red-crested Pochards, Lapwing hide; Jack Snipe, Wet Meadow.

Ibstock: Short-eared Owl over Leicester Road this evening.

Hicks Lodge: Short-eared Owl this evening.

Eyebrook Res: 3 Red-crested Pochards.

Saturday 29th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper in Manton Bay this morning at least.

Hoby: female Merlin over Asfordby Road late afternoon, also a Swallow flew south.

Friday 28th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still from Lapwing hide; Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; ringtail Hen Harrier around Egleton reserve.

Eyebrook Res: Little Ringed Plover.

Thursday 27th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still from Lapwing hide.

Wednesday 26th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still, but more mobile today, being seen on Lagoon 4 (Dunlin & Plover hides) as well as Lapwing hide. Grey Plover, 9 Ruff, 25 Dunlin & 6 Ringed Plovers, Lapwing hide; Grey Plover, Lagoon 4; Azorean-type Yellow-legged Gull in the roost off Goldeneye hide + 3 Crossbills over.

Garthorpe: report of Black Redstart this morning, but no details.

Tuesday 25th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper & drake American Wigeon still from Lapwing hide, also Grey Plover; Garganey, Goldeneye hide.

Monday 24th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still from Lapwing hide.

Stanford Res: Great White Egret this afternoon till 15:35, when it flew off east.

Eyebrook Res: Azorean-type Yellow-legged Gull in the roost this evening.

Sunday 23rd

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper & drake American Wigeon still from Lapwing hide.

Swithland Res: Grey Phalarope off Kinchley Lane late morning, but unfortunately killed by a Carrion Crow.

Bardon Hill: 3 Crossbills & 1 Brambling over this morning.

Saturday 22nd

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper, drake American Wigeon, Water Pipit, 2 Rock Pipits, 3 Grey Plovers, Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Ruff, 20 Dunlin & 12 Ringed Plovers, Lapwing hide; ringtail Hen Harrier, Lagoon 1 at midday.

Watermead CP South: Rock Pipit & Crossbill flew over this morning.

Bardon Hill: 14 Crossbills over this afternoon.

Deans Lane: 2 Crossbills over this morning.

Stanford Res: 1st-winter Little Gull this afternoon.

Friday 21st

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper, drake American Wigeon, Water Pipit, Rock Pipit & Grey Plover, Lapwing hide; 2 Rock Pipits at the southern end of the dam this morning.

Frolesworth: Short-eared Owl at Hill Farm, (SP500898).

Thursday 20th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper, Grey Plover & Black-tailed Godwit still from Lapwing hide, but no reports of American Wigeon today. 2 Spotted Redshanks & 5 Ruff, Manton Bay. Also possibly of interest (if you're interested in that sort of thing), an Azorean-type Yellow-legged Gull in the roost off Goldeneye hide this evening. Presumed to be the bird seen in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire recently.

Watermead CP South: at least one Crossbill flew over the Mammoth this morning.

Wednesday 19th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper & drake American Wigeon still from Lapwing hide, also Grey Plover & Black-tailed Godwit.

Tuesday 18th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper & drake American Wigeon still from Lapwing hide, also Grey Plover, Black-tailed Godwit, 13 Ruff, 15 Dunlin & 10 Ringed Plovers. Short-eared Owl, Lagoon 1 this evening.

Aylestone Meadows: Firecrest in dense vegetation just north of Parson's Bridge this morning, but elusive and not seen this afternoon.

Monday 17th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper & drake American Wigeon still from Lapwing hide.

Watermead CP South: Rock Pipit again this morning

Sunday 16th

Rutland Water: adult White-rumped Sandpiper still from Lapwing hide, also drake American Wigeon, 2 Grey Plovers, Black-tailed Godwit & 4+ Ruff. Short-eared Owl, Lagoon 1 this evening.

Stanford Res: Spoonbill this afternoon.

Saturday 15th

Rutland Water: WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER again from Lapwing hide this afternoon (first seen this morning, but had been missing for most of the day). The fourth county record, and the first since 1998. Also drake American Wigeon (presumably last winter's bird returning) from Lapwing hide.

Friday 14th

Deans Lane: Great Grey Shrike flew west at 12:02.

Rutland Water: Spotted Redshank, 3 Grey Plovers, 2 Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit & 4+ Dunlin, South Arm.

Eyebrook Res: juv Med Gull & 2 Dunlin.

Thursday 13th

Deans Lane: Merlin flew west this morning, also 19 Bramblings south and good numbers of Redwings and Fieldfares.

Watermead CP South: Rock Pipit flew over the Mammoth this morning.

Burton Lazars: 2 Wheatears.

Tuesday 11th

Longmoor Lake: Short-eared Owl & Dunlin.

Cossington Meadows: 3 Dunlin, 1 Common Sandpiper & 1 Ringed Plover, Upper Marsh.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Wheatears south of the island + 2 Dunlin.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 1 Wheatear still in the paddocks.

Monday 10th

Rutland Water: Grey Plover, North Arm; Turnstone, Ruff & 20+ Dunlin, South Arm 3; 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 11 Ruff & 12 Dunlin, Manton Bay.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 1 Wheatear still in the paddocks.

Sunday 9th

Bardon Hill: Ring Ouzel this morning.

Swithland Res: drake Scaup & 2 Med Gulls on the south side.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 1 Wheatear still in the paddocks.

Also small numbers of Redwings and Fieldfares now starting to appear.

Saturday 8th

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 1 Wheatear still in the paddocks.

Thursday 6th

Stanford Res: Curlew Sandpiper at the inflow end.

Rutland Water: 3 Garganey, South Arm; 3 Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 1.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 3 Wheatears still in the paddocks.

Deans Lane: 2 Swift sp (presumably Common) flew south-west mid-morning.

Tuesday 4th

Deans Lane: 1 or 2 Crossbills over this morning.

Watermead CP Birstall: 2 Ruff.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 3 Wheatears in the paddocks.

Sunday 2nd

Deans Lane: adult pale morph Arctic Skua flew west at 11:37 (Allen Pocock). Also 3 Crossbills & 1 Hobby.

Shawell GP: 1st-winter Med Gull on the balancing lake this afternoon.

Bardon Hill: 1 Crossbill & 1 Wheatear.

Saturday 1st

Deans Lane: 2 juvenile Arctic Skuas flew west at 10:09 (Allen Pocock).

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 1 Wheatear still in the paddocks.
