Rutland Water: Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club;2 Long-tailed Ducks & 3 Black-necked Grebes, North Arm; 3 Scaup, Red-breasted Merganser & Common Scoter at the dam; 2 Bitterns & 3 Smew, Lagoon 3.

Barrow upon Soar: Siberian Chiffchaff again at the sewage works this afternoon, with 2 nominate Chiffchaffs.

Eyebrook Res: drake & redhead Smew off Stoke Dry; 20 Dunlin & 1 Green Sandpiper at the inflow.

Charnwood Lodge: 4 Crossbills trapped and ringed.

Friday 29th

Rutland Water: Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; Long-tailed Duck, North Arm; 2 redhead Smew, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: 2 drake Smew off Stoke Dry car park + 20 Dunlin at the inflow.

Thursday 28th

Rutland Water: Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club.

Albert Village Tip: adult Glaucous Gull.

Swithland Res: 7 Scaup still on the north side.

Wednesday 27th

Rutland Water: Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club, also a Lesser Scaup type Aythya hybrid at the dam, which looks good at rest, but has white in the primaries. Photo here.

Tuesday 26th

Rutland Water: Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club, also Black-necked Grebe; 2 Long-tailed Ducks + Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Scaup & 2 Common Scoters at the dam; Grey Plover, Lagoon 1.

Barrow upon Soar: Siberian Chiffchaff still at the sewage works, by the gate early afternoon, after no sign for the last two days. Also 1 nominate Chiffchaff there.

Deans Lane: 15+ Bramblings on the footpath to Beacon Hill.

Eyebrook Res: 21 Dunlin at the inflow.

Monday 25th

Rutland Water: Snow Bunting at the dam this morning, also female Red-breasted Merganser & Green Sandpiper; Long-tailed Duck & 2 Black-necked Grebes still, North Arm; drake & redhead Smew, lagoon 3; Stonechat, Lagoon 1.

Swithland Res: 6+ Scaup still from the dam.

Sunday 24th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; 2 Long-tailed Ducks, 2 Black-necked Grebes & female Common Scoter, North Arm; female/imm Red-breasted Merganser & 2 female Common Scoters at the dam; drake & redhead Smew, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: redhead Smew, Green Sandpiper & 16 Dunlin at the inflow end.

Swithland Res: 7 Scaup still off the dam + Crossbill flew west.

Deans Lane: 50 Bramblings.

Moira: secondhand report of 5 Jack Snipe near Spring Cottage - possibly the area of land north of Spring Cottage Road at SK 3017 1592.

Saturday 23rd

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; 2 redhead Smew, lagoon 3.

Barrow upon Soar: Siberian Chiffchaff still at the sewage works this afternoon.

Eyebrook Res: redhead Smew & 1 Green Sandpiper.

Deans Lane: 10 Crossbills & 30 Bramblings this morning.

Swithland Res: now 7 Scaup off the dam, but no sign of the Red-breasted Merganser at Cropston Res.

Friday 22nd

Barrow upon Soar: Siberian Chiffchaff at the sewage works this afternoon, perhaps last winter's bird returning. Park by the sewage works on Flesh Hovel Lane (off Barrow Road, SK562180) or at nearby Pillings Lock Marina.

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; female/imm Red-breasted Merganser off the dam; 2 Long-tailed Ducks & 2 Black-necked Grebes, North Arm; redhead Smew & 2 Bitterns, Lagoon 3.

Cropston Res: female/imm Red-breasted Merganser still showing well off the dam, by the tower.

Eyebrook Res: 3 female Common Scoters north of the island, also 8 Dunlin.

Swithland Res: 6 Scaup still off the dam.

Thursday 21st

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; female Red-breasted Merganser off the dam; 2 redhead Smew & 1 Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; redhead Smew, Lagoon 3.

Cropston Res: female/imm Red-breasted Merganser off the dam near the draw-off tower.

Swithland Res: 6 Scaup still off the dam.

Wednesday 20th

Rutland Water: 1+ Long-tailed Duck + 2 Black-necked Grebes, North Arm; drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; female Red-breasted Merganser & 2 Common Scoters at the dam; 2 Dunlin, Lagoon 1.

Swithland Res: 6 Scaup still off the dam.

Tuesday 19th

Rutland Water: 2 Long-tailed Ducks + Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; 2 Common Scoters at the dam.

Swithland Res: 6 Scaup still off the dam.

Monday 18th

Eyebrook Res: female Ring-necked Duck still off the plantation; 10 Dunlin at the inflow.

Swithland Res: 6 Scaup still off the dam.

Rutland Water: 7 Red-crested Pochards & 1 Ringed Plover, North Arm; 1 Dunlin, Lagoon 1.

Sunday 17th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; 1st-winter Shag still, North Arm (on Fishponds bund), also Black-necked Grebe & female Scaup; 2 female Common Scoters at the dam.

Swithland Res: 6 Scaup off the dam.

Beacon Hill: 6 Bramblings by the bridleway on the north side of the park, also 1 200 yards down from the top car park.

Deans Lane: 13 Crossbills. Also 42 Bramblings in the Deans Lane/Beacon Hill area.

Saturday 16th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club.

Eyebrook Res: female Ring-necked Duck still.

Swithland Res: 3 Common Scoters & 4 Scaup off the dam.

Charnwood Lodge: Stonechat near the pond.

Friday 15th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still west of the Sailing Club; Snow Bunting flew over Lagoon 3, also 2 Bitterns there; 1st-winter Shag + Bewick's Swan, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: female Ring-necked Duck off the plantation + 2 Dunlin.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: adult Med Gull this morning.

Beacon Hill: 10 - 20 Bramblings around beech trees between the summit and the top car park.

Wednesday 13th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still in Sailing Club bay; 3 adult Bewick's Swans still, Lagoon 1 + 2 Stonechats; 1st-winter Shag, 3 Black-necked Grebes, 4 female Common Scoters & 8 Dunlin, North Arm; Bittern, Lagoon 3; 2 Common Scoters at the dam.

Eyebrook Res: female Scaup south of the island + 1 Dunlin at the inflow.

Tuesday 12th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal still in Sailing Club bay; 1st-winter Shag & 3 Black-necked Grebes still, North Arm.

Monday 11th

Rutland Water: 3 adult Bewick's Swans, Lagoon 1.

Frolesworth Manor Farm: 3 Bramblings south at 08:50.

Sunday 10th

Rutland Water: drake Green-winged Teal in Sailing Club bay this morning; Shag at Burley Fishponds (not at the dam as reported earlier); Bittern, Lagoon 3; Jack Snipe, Lagoon 2 (Redshank hide).

Eyebrook Res: female/imm Ring-necked Duck still off the island, also 1 Black-tailed Godwit.

Bardon Hill: 8 Pink-footed Geese & 11 Bramblings south this morning, also 2 Crossbills in the pines.

Saturday 9th

Hicks Lodge: 1 Common Scoter.

Rutland Water: 14 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3; 2 Stonechats, Lagoon 2.

Beacon Hill: 20+ Bramblings at the bottom end of the main fenced off 'heath' enclosure (c. halfway between the top and bottom car parks).

Friday 8th

Eyebrook Res: female/imm Ring-necked Duck still in front of the hide.

Rutland Water: 6 Red-crested Pochards, North Arm.

Thursday 7th

Eyebrook Res: female/imm Ring-necked Duck still in the bay south of the island this afternoon.

Rutland Water: 2 Bitterns, Lagoon 3.

Wednesday 6th

Charnwood Lodge: 20+ Bramblings around the 'bomb rocks' area this morning.

Tuesday 5th

Rutland Water: 1st-winter Shag at the dam, early afternoon, then presumably the same bird from Teal hide from 15:00 - 16:00, when it flew towards Manton Bay.

Eyebrook Res: female/imm Ring-necked Duck still south of the island.

Monday 4th

Eyebrook Res: female/imm Ring-necked Duck still off the island.

Rutland Water: 2 Bitterns, Lagoon 3; 30 Red-crested Pochards around the reserve.

Sunday 3rd

Eyebrook Res: female/imm Ring-necked Duck still late afternoon, between the island and the hide, close in to the bank on its own.

Rutland Water: 3 Black-necked Grebes & 10 Red-crested Pochards, North Arm; drake Scaup, Lagoon 3; 2 Red-crested Pochards, South Arm 3; male Stonechat, Lagoon 1.

Sence Valley Forest Park: 2 female type Red-breasted Mergansers on Horseshoe Pool briefly before flying off.

Saturday 2nd

Martinsthorpe: Great White Egret flew south-south-west this morning, also 2 Bramblings over.

Rutland Water: very late Sand Martin over the lagoons mid afternoon; 3 Black-necked Grebes & 15 Red-crested Pochards, North Arm; 4 Common Scoters off South Arm island.

Kelham Bridge: 2 Jack Snipe.

Friday 1st

Eyebrook Res: no sign of Ring-necked Duck today. 1 Green Sandpiper.
