JUNE 2017

Friday 30th

Rutland Water: 6 Wood Sandpipers, Lagoon 4 this evening, also adult Med Gull.

Eyebrook Res: Little Tern still at the inflow, also 1 Knot.

Thursday 29th

Eyebrook Res: Little Tern, 4 LRPs, 4 Black-tailed Godwits & 1 Common Sandpiper all at the inflow.

Wednesday 28th

No reports of any Bee-eaters flying into Leics from East Leake (where at least 4 still present) today.

Stanford Res: 2 Little Terns.

Tuesday 27th

5 Bee-eaters reported to have flown into Leics again from East Leake Quarry, Notts at 17:45.

Rutland Water: 2 Knot, Lagoon 4 then flew off, also Dunlin there; 2 Great White Egrets still + Grasshopper Warbler, Harrier hide.

Stanford Res: Grasshopper Warbler, Greenshank, 4 LRPs & Green Sandpiper.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Whinchats.

Monday 26th

5 of the 7 BEE-EATERS that have been present at East Leake Quarry, Notts, flew across the county boundary into Leicestershire on two occasions this evening and disappeared towards Hoton.

Stanford Res: Avocet still.

Sunday 25th

Stanford Res: Avocet, also 27 Black-tailed Godwits dropped in at 17:20, and Osprey through this morning.

Saturday 24th

Rutland Water: Marsh Harrier, Lagoon 3; Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Sandpipers & 5 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4.

Friday 23rd

Rutland Water: 2 Great White Egrets, Heron Bay.

Thursday 22nd

Rutland Water: 2 Great White Egrets, Lagoon 8.

Tuesday 20th

Rutland Water: Sanderling, Lagoon 4; 2 adult Med Gulls flew over Lagoon 3; Great White Egret, Lagoon 8.

Stanford Res: 2 Green Sandpipers + Ringed Plover.

Sunday 18th

No bird news today, but a couple of interesting dragonfly reports: a male Scarce Chaser on the River Welland just east of Tinwell at TF013060, and a male Beautiful Demoiselle on private land on the River Avon downstream of Stanford Res. Saturday 17th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 8.

Braunstone: Crossbill flew over Bendbow Rise at 07:15.

Friday 16th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 8.

Stanford Res: Green Sandpiper.

Thursday 15th

Melton Mowbray: Cattle Egret flew west over the council buildings at 07:55 (Toby Carter).

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 3 (flew off south-west at 12:05); 1 Dunlin & 14 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4.

Wednesday 14th

Rutland Water: 3 drake Garganey, Lagoon 4 (Dunlin hide).

Tuesday 13th

Rutland Water: 1st-summer Arctic Tern, South Arm 3.

Monday 12th

Rutland Water: 1st-summer Arctic Tern, Lagoon 4.

Rutland Water: drake Garganey, Lagoon 4; 1st-summer Arctic Tern, North Arm.

Wednesday 7th

Rutland Water: female Common Scoter, South Arm 1.

Stoney Cove: 1 Common Sandpiper.

Monday 5th

Rutland Water: female Common Scoter, North Arm.

Saturday 3rd

Rutland Water: adult Arctic Tern & 20 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4.

Friday 2nd

Eyebrook Res: female Goosander at the inflow, then flew over the bridge.

Thursday 1st

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 8; Grey Plover, Lagoon 4.

Stanford Res: Jack Snipe & Grey Plover still.
