Monday 30th

Rutland Water: 18 Black-tailed Godwits & 5 Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 1.

Sunday 29th

Eyebrook Res: no sign of Gannet today. Black-tailed Godwit & 5 LRPs at the inflow.

Saturday 28th

Eyebrook Res: adult Gannet off Stoke Dry car park (apparently also there yesterday). Photos of this and the Long-tailed Duck to follow tomorrow.

Rutland Water: 3 Common Scoters, North Arm.

Thornton Res: no sign of the Long-tailed Duck today.

Friday 27th

Thornton Res: female Long-tailed Duck still.

Rutland Water: 4 Knot, Lagoon 4.

Thursday 26th

Thornton Res: female Long-tailed Duck with Tufted Ducks but mobile.

Wednesday 25th

Rutland Water: 2 Spoonbills, Lagoon 1 till 20:15 when they flew off south.

Tuesday 24th

Rutland Water: Black Tern, Lagoon 4; 4 Common Scoters, South Arm off Old Hall.

Sunday 22nd

Watermead CP: Spoonbill flew towards Birstall at 09:20 and appeared to be coming down, but no further sign.

Friday 20th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis still around the Egleton reserve, also summer plumaged Spotted Redshank, Wet Meadow & drake Garganey, Lagoon 3.

Thursday 19th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis still around the Egleton reserve, also 3 Garganey, Lagoon 4.

Wednesday 18th

Late news for yesterday: male Red-backed Shrike at Merry's Meadows LRWT reserve near Greetham. Park near the junction of Thistleton Lane & Great Lane north of Greetham at SK928155 and follow the footpath north-east to the reserve entrance. Bird was at the far end of the reserve at SK940159. Not looked for yet today. News is released on condition that birders ONLY view from the perimeter path and DO NOT enter the hay meadow.

Update: no sign of the bird in a search this evening.

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis on Wet Meadow.

Eyebrook Res: 3 Garganey still at the inflow.

North Luffenham Airfield: very late Greenland Wheatear trapped and ringed this evening.

Saturday 14th

Eyebrook Res: 3 Garganey still at the inflow.

Friday 13th

Eyebrook Res: male Red-necked Phalarope at the inflow till 16:30 when it flew off north-east. Also 3 Garganey & Black-tailed Godwit still.

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis still on Lagoon 3; 1st-summer Little Gull, Lagoon 4.

Thursday 12th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis still, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: now 3 Garganey (2 drakes) & Black-tailed Godwit at the inflow this evening.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Garganey at the inflow.

Cropston Res: Osprey again this afternoon, then flew towards Swithland Res at 15:45.

Monday 9th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis back in North Arm.

Swithland Res: Osprey at the dam end.

Sunday 8th

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper, Snipe hide (Wet Meadow, also Glossy Ibis still on Lagoon 4. Nearby Quail calling north of the road between Lyndon & North Luffenham this morning at SK921042. NB DO NOT use any kind of playback to try and see this bird (or any other Quail) or enter the field.

Friday 6th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis, Lagoon 4, also Grey Plover still, 22+ Ringed Plovers & 3 Dunlin; 2 Black Terns, Lagoon 3; 2 Med Gulls, Lagoon 2; 3 drake Common Scoters, South Arm 3.

Thursday 5th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis still, North Arm.

Cropston Res: Osprey late morning.

Wednesday 4th

Rutland Water: Glossy Ibis still, North Arm; Curlew Sandpiper, Grey Plover, 8 Ringed Plovers & 2 Dunlin, Lagoon 4.
