Monday 31st

Rutland Water: Great White Egret still, Lagoon 1; Turnstone, North Arm; juv Arctic Tern & 2nd-winter Little Gull, South Arm 3; 180 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4.

Eyebrook Res: Bar-tailed Godwit, Curlew Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, 2 Common Sandpipers, 20+ Ruff, 15+ Dunlin & 40+ Ringed Plovers.

Cropston Res: Sandwich Tern flew east at 15:00, also Green Sandpiper & 4 Common Sandpipers. Nearby, male Redstart at the Anstey gate into Bradgate Park.

Brascote Pits: 6 Whimbrel flew west at 14:30.

Sunday 30th

Rutland Water: Black-tailed Godwit & 8 Green Sandpipers, Lagoon 3; Turnstone, South Arm 3; Wood Sandpiper, Greenshank; Common Sandpiper, 3 Green Sandpipers & 13 Ruff, Manton Bay.

Eyebrook Res: 2 juv Curlew Sandpipers still at the inflow & Wood Sandpiper south-west of the island, also 2 LRPs, 4 Greenshanks, 18 Ruff, 10 Dunlin, 11 Ringed Plovers & 10+ Common Sandpipers around the reservoir.

Brascote Pits: 1 Whinchat.

Saturday 29th

Rutland Water: Black-necked Grebe still, Dickinson's Bay; Great White Egret & 7+ Black Terns, South Arm 3; 2 Little Stints, Lagoon 4; 3 Garganey, Lagoon 1.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Whinchats still at the north end, also 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Whinchats & 2 Wood Sandpipers.

Luffenham Airfield: 2 Whinchats & 1 Wheatear.

Shawell A5 Lagoons: 11 Black-tailed Godwits.

Friday 28th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret & 10+ Black Terns, South Arm 3; Black-necked Grebe, Dickinson's Bay; 2 Little Stints, 1 Black Tern & Hobby, Lagoon 4; Spotted Redshank & 2 Wood Sandpipers, Manton Bay. Plus usual passage waders. 2 Spotted Flycatchers near Snipe hide.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Curlew Sandpipers, Sanderling, 10 Black-tailed Godwits & 2 Greenshanks at the inflow; 2 Wood Sandpipers, one either side of the island, also 2 Greenshanks, 5 Common Sandpipers, 20+ Ruff, 18 Ringed Plovers & 11 Dunlin around the reservoir.

Cropston Res: Turnstone still on the dam.

Priory Water: no sign of Wryneck.

Thursday 27th

Priory Water: Wryneck this afternoon, along track south of Asfordby valley, east of Priory Water, at SK72011894. Seen briefly at 13:45, then again from 14:35 - 15:10 when it was flushed by a dog walker (Sam Pitt Miller).

Rutland Water: Little Gull & 5+ Black Terns, South Arm 3.

Cropston Res: Turnstone on the dam, 2 Green Sandpipers & 9 Common Sandpipers around the reservoir. Nearby, 4 Spotted Flycatchers at the Anstey gate into Bradgate Park.

Wednesday 26th

Eyebrook Res: 3 juv Curlew Sandpipers (one colour-ringed in Poland at the mouth of the River Vistula on the Baltic coast) along shore between the hide and the Fishing Lodge, and another at the inflow this evening; 2 Wood Sandpipers (one either side of the island); 5 Greenshanks & 1 Whinchat at the inflow; 35+ Ruff, 13 Dunlin, 9 Ringed Plovers & 6+ Common Sandpipers around the reservoir.

Rutland Water: 2 Little Stints, Lagoon 4; Wood Sandpiper, Lagoon 3; 4 Garganey & 4 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 1, also 6+ Black Terns, Greenshank, 21 Ruff, 6 Green Sandpipers, 6 Common Sandpipers, 8 Dunlin & 32 Ringed Plovers around the reserve.

Longmoor Lake: 5 Whinchats.

Tuesday 25th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 1; 2 Little Stints & 2 Garganey, Lagoon 4; Wood Sandpiper, Lagoon 3; Little Stint & Knot, North Arm; 2 Wood Sandpipers, Manton Bay; 12+ Black Terns, South Arm.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Wood Sandpipers, 3 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Greenshanks, 28 Ruff, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Dunlin & 3 Ringed Plovers.

Bradgate Park: 2 male Redstarts & 2 Spotted Flycatchers at the southern end of Cropston Res, SK541100, also female Redstart & 4 Spotted Flycatchers around the Anstey gate area. Nearby, 3 Green Sandpipers & 9 Common Sandpipers from Cropston Res dam.

Wymeswold Meadows: 1 Spotted Flycatcher.

Monday 24th

Grimston: 2 Cranes flew south at 08:50.

Rutland Water: Sandwich Tern, 10+ Black Terns, Ruff & Common Sandpiper, South Arm/Old Hall area.

Eyebrook Res: juv Little Stint (also seen yesterday evening; bird has a drooping left wing) at the inflow, also Turnstone flying around in the rain early afternoon, 6 Greenshanks, 24 Ruff, 8 Ringed Plovers, 3 Common Sandpipers, 2 Green Sandpipers, 1 Dunlin & 2 Red-crested Pochards.

Sunday 23rd

Rutland Water: Great White Egret still, Lagoon 1; Wood Sandpiper, Lagoon 3; 2+ Black Terns, South Arm 3 + 1 in North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Wood Sandpipers (one either side of the island) + 4 Greenshanks, 20 Ruff, 6 Green Sandpipers, 5 Common Sandpipers, 6 Ringed Plovers, 3 Dunlin & 1 LRP.

Saturday 22nd

Rutland Water: Pied Flycatcher briefly at eastern end of the Birdfair red car park (trees behind Lagoon 2?); Great White Egret, Lagoon 1; 29 Black Terns, South Arm 3; Little Stint, Lagoon 4; Wood Sandpiper still, Lagoon 3.

Launde: female Redstart.

Eyebrook Res: Wood Sandpiper, 2 Greenshanks, 19 Ruff, 2 Green Sandpipers & 3 Common Sandpipers.

Friday 21st

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Wood Sandpiper & Black Tern all around Egleton reserve still. Med Gull, Lagoon 4.

Eyebrook Res: Wood Sandpiper between the island & the hide; Sanderling between the island & the fishing lodge + 16 Ruff, 4 Greenshanks, 2 Green Sandpipers, Common Sandpiper, 13 Ringed Plovers & 6 Dunlin around the reservoir.

Thursday 20th

Eyebrook Res: Wood Sandpiper still south-west of the hide; Sanderling, Greenshank, 5 Dunlin & 14 Ruff at the inflow, also 8 Ringed Plovers, 3 Green Sandpipers & 4 Common Sandpipers around the reservoir.

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper still, Lagoon 3.

Wednesday 19th

Pickworth Great Wood: Crane flew north-west at 11:45.

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper & 3 Greenshanks, Lagoon 3.

Tuesday 18th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret still around Egleton reserve; juv Arctic Tern, Little Gull & Wood Sandpiper, Lagoon 1; Greenshank, Heron Bay.

Longmoor Lake: 2 Whinchats & 1 Wheatear.

Monday 17th

Eyebrook Res: Wood Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper & LRP south of the island; Garganey at the bridge; 11 Ruff, Green Sandpiper, 4+ Dunlin & 6+ Ringed Plovers around the inflow end.

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper still, Lagoon 3.

Brascote Pits: 1 Common Sandpiper.

Sunday 16th

Eyebrook Res: 2 Whimbrel, Wood Sandpiper, Garganey, juv Med Gull, 4 Ruff, 2 Green Sandpipers, 3 Common Sandpipers, 4 Dunlin & 14 Ringed Plovers.

Croft Hill: Pied Flycatcher again this morning, in an oak tree at the base of the hill.

Rutland Water: Great White Egret still around Egleton reserve; Wood Sandpiper, Lagoon 3 + 3 Greenshanks, 3 Ruff, 5 Dunlin, 5 Green Sandpipers, 10 Common Sandpipers & 10 Ringed Plovers around the reserve.

Cropston Res: Grey Plover flew west at 08:10, also 4 Common Sandpipers, 3 Green Sandpipers & Ringed Plover around the reservoir.

Swithland Res: juv Arctic Tern still on the north side + Common Sandpiper.

Saturday 15th

Eyebrook Res: 5 Wood Sandpipers & 2 Common Sandpipers south of the island, also Whimbrel over & 4 Ruff, 3 Greenshanks, 10+ Ringed Plovers, 6 Dunlin & 1 Green Sandpiper at the inflow.

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper, 17 Ringed Plovers, 7 Dunlin & 3 Common Sandpipers, North Arm.

Swithland Res: 2 Green Sandpipers & 2 Common Sandpipers.

Cropston Res: 1 Common Sandpiper.

Friday 14th

Rutland Water: Knot, Black Tern, Little Gull, Wood Sandpiper, Turnstone & drake Common Scoter, North Arm; Redstart, Sykes Lane car park; Great White Egret, Lagoon 2; 5 Black Terns, South Arm 3; Greenshank, Manton Bay; Garganey, Manton Bay, + usual passage waders.

Cropston Res: 5 Little Terns from the dam.

Eyebrook Res: Black Tern, Garganey, Sanderling, 5 Turnstones, 8 Ruff, 3 Greenshanks, 2 Common Sandpipers & 14 Ringed Plovers at the inflow; Greenshank & Green Sandpiper north of the island.

Swithland Res: juv Arctic Tern, 4 Greenshanks, 2 Green Sandpipers & 2 Common Sandpipers all on the north side this evening.

Thursday 13th

Rutland Water: juv Little Stint, Lagoon 4; Black Tern, South Arm 3 then Lagoon 3, also Wood Sandpiper still, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: Garganey at the inflow, also Ruff, 4 Dunlin, Green Sandpiper, 9 Ringed Plovers & 1 Hobby; 3 Greenshanks on plantation shore & Ruff north of the island.

Cropston Res: 1 Greenshank half way along the southern bank, viewable from the dam.

Wednesday 12th

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper still, Lagoon 3; Great White Egret still, Egleton reserve.

Swithland Res: juv Arctic Tern on north side.

Cossington Meadows: Common Sandpiper & 7 Green Sandpipers.

Tuesday 11th

Rutland Water: Pied Flycatcher briefly, Lyndon reserve; Great White Egret mobile; Wood Sandpiper North Arm then Lagoon 3; 2 Marsh Harriers & 3 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 1; 2nd-summer Med Gull, Lagoon 4; 9 Black-tailed Godwits, North Arm; drake Scaup, Lagoon 3; 3 Ruff, Manton Bay.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Green Sandpipers, 3 Dunlin & 11 Ringed Plovers at the inflow; Ruff & 2 Common Sandpipers north of the island.

Monday 10th

Rutland Water: Wood Sandpiper, Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit, Green Sandpiper & 2 Common Sandpipers, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: 4 Green Sandpipers, 3 Dunlin & 3 Ringed Plovers at the inflow; Common Sandpiper south of the island.

Bradgate Park: female Redstart around the Anstey gate; nearby 3 Green Sandpipers & 3 Common Sandpipers around Cropston Res.

Birstall Meadows: 5 Green Sandpipers. Nearby female Red-crested Pochard, Watermead CP South.

Sunday 9th

Eyebrook Res: Wood Sandpiper at the inflow, also LRP; 3 Green Sandpipers at the bridge; Common Sandpiper & Dunlin south of the island.

Cropston Res: male Redstart at the south end, also 3 Green Sandpipers & 6 Common Sandpipers.

Croft Quarry: 1 Wheatear on the embankment this morning.

Saturday 8th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret still, Egleton reserve, also Greenshank, Common Sandpiper & 9 Green Sandpipers, Manton Bay.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Green Sandpipers & 2 Common Sandpipers.

Friday 7th

Croft Hill: Pied Flycatcher in trees near base of the hill on the Huncote side.

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 1.

Eyebrook Res: Greenshank, Ruff & Common Sandpiper.

Quorn: Crossbill flew south-east this afternoon.

Wymeswold: 1 Hobby.

Thursday 6th

Rutland Water: Great White Egret & 3 Green Sandpipers, Wet Meadow; 2+ Black Terns, South Arm 3; Greenshank, 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Ruff, 2 Common Sandpipers & Green Sandpiper, Lyndon/Manton Bay.

Cossington Meadows: 2 Green Sandpipers & 2 Ringed Plovers.

Wednesday 5th

Eyebrook Res: 2 Avocets still at the inflow.

Tuesday 4th

Eyebrook Res: 2 Avocets, Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plovers at the inflow + Green Sandpiper at the bridge.

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Lagoon 1.

Orton-on-the-Hill: 1+ Quail still south-west of the village, heard from Warton Lane this evening.

Monday 3rd

Rutland Water: 3 Black Terns, South Arm 3.

Eyebrook Res: Greenshank still south of the island; 2 Green Sandpipers & 1 Ringed Plover at the inflow.

Cossington Meadows: 1 Green Sandpiper, Lower Moor.

Newton Harcourt: several Spotted Flycatchers around the church & towpath.

Sunday 2nd

Rutland Water: Great White Egret, Wet Meadow.

Eyebrook Res: Greenshank still west of the hide + 2 Green Sandpipers at the inflow.

Saturday 1st

Rutland Water: 4 Common Sandpipers, 4 Dunlin & 9 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4; 21 LRPs, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper & Ringed Plover, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: Greenshank still west of the hide; Black-tailed Godwit & 2 Green Sandpipers, inflow.
