Friday 31st

Rutland Water: juv Red-necked Phalarope, Lagoon 3, also Marsh Harrier; Curlew Sandpiper, juv Little Gull, 2 Greenshanks, Ruff, 5 Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plovers & 6 Snipe, Lagoon 4.

Stoke Dry Wood: Honey Buzzard circling over the wood at 10:10.

Eyebrook Res: 2 Ruff + Marsh Harrier over at 17:00.

Hose: Whinchat 1 mile south of the village this afternoon.

Watermead CP North: Green Sandpiper & 4 Spotted Flycatchers.

Thursday 30th

Eyebrook Res: juv Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Turnstones, Greenshank, Ruff & Common Sandpiper at the inflow end + juv Little Gull.

Rutland Water: Spotted Redshank & 4 Greenshank, Lagoon 4 late afternoon but flew off, also 4 Dunlin, 6 Ringed Plovers & 1 Green Sandpiper.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: male Redstart still, but no sign of Pied Flycatcher today.

Wednesday 29th

Frolesworth Manor Lake: female Pied Flycatcher in oaks 100 yards west of the lake at 16:30 but elusive; also male Redstart on fence east of the car park.

Mountsorrel: 1st-winter Pied Flycatcher in hedge on Bond Lane near Broad Hill, SK573147 this morning, but elusive.

Welby: 4 Redstarts this evening in field north of the bridleway at SK720213.

Rutland Water: juv Little Gull, South Arm 3 (Lapwing hide); juv Marsh Harrier, Lagoon 3; Greenshank, 3 Dunlin, Ruff, Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper & 6 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4; Black Tern, Ruff & 2 Common Sandpipers, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: female Marsh Harrier at the north end, also 12+ Snipe.

Tuesday 28th

Rutland Water: Garganey, Sanderling, 9 Black-tailed Godwits & 10 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4; Black Tern & juv Little Gull, North Arm; 6 Common Sandpipers & 8 Green Sandpipers around the reserve.

Frolesworth Manor Farm: 2 Redstarts in hedge on the west side of the paddocks, also 1 Whinchat.

Birstall Meadows: 2 Green Sandpipers.

Monday 27th

Rutland Water: Garganey, adult Med Gull, Sanderling, 2 Turnstones, 3 Greenshanks, Ruff, Common Sandpiper, 4 Dunlin & 8+ Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4.

Frolesworth Manor Farm: Tree Pipit this morning.

Eyebrook Res: 5 Snipe at the inflow.

Sunday 26th

No sign of any crakes at Birstall Meadows today, but water levels are much higher now after yesterday's torrential rain.

Rutland Water: Little Stint & Black Tern, Lagoon 4.

Welby: still 3 male Redstarts.

Frolesworth: male Redstart at the crossroads, SP508904.

Burrough Hill: male Redstart still on the south side of the hill fort this evening.

Cossington Meadows: 10 Black-tailed Godwits flew through this morning, but no sign of Whinchat or Redstart.

Cropston Res: Whinchat & 2 Wheatears in fields to the south at c. SK544105. Common Sandpiper on the dam.

Charley Mill: 5 Wheatears along the footpath this morning.

Saturday 25th

Birstall Meadows: now 2 Spotted Crakes, also juv Red-crested Pochard & Common Sandpiper.

Welby: 4 Redstarts (3 males) in same area as yesterday.

Cossington Meadows: Whinchat still on the Moor.

Saddington Res: Osprey still this afternoon.

Friday 24th

Birstall Meadows: Spotted Crake still, also Common Sandpiper.

Lyndon: male Redstart & 8+ Spotted Flycatchers north of the village in sheep field at SK905046.

Welby: 3 Redstarts (2 males) in same place as the male yesterday.

Rutland Water: Garganey, Black Tern, 6 Turnstones, 2 Little Stints, 2 Ruff, 12 Ringed Plovers, 2 LRPs & adult Med Gull, Lagoon 4; Garganey & Black Tern, North Arm; 4 Greenshanks, 12 Green Sandpipers & 7 Common Sandpipers around the reserve.

Thursday 23rd

Birstall Meadows: Spotted Crake still showing on and off all day.

Swithland Res: Black-necked Grebe on the north side, also 2 Common Sandpipers.

Burrough Hill: adult male Redstart in bushes at the south-west corner of the hill fort this morning. Also 3 Crossbills over and 5 Spotted Flycatchers by the car park.

Welby: male Redstart in field north of the bridleway at SK720213.

Rutland Water: 4 Garganey, 2 Ruff, Greenshank, 4 Dunlin, LRP & 10 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4; 4 Black-tailed Godwits flew over Lagoon 3; Greenshanks, North Arm & Lagoon 1; Common Sandpiper, Wet Meadow; 7+ Green Sandpipers around the reserve.

Leighfield: 2 Tree Pipits south.

Eyebrook Res: 1 Ruff & 1 Greenshank.

Bardon Hill: 4 Spotted Flycatchers.

Wednesday 22nd

Birstall Meadows: Spotted Crake showed well at 14:15 and again this evening, but otherwise elusive.

Cossington Meadows: female/imm Redstart still in hedge along the main track just past the first bend, also Whinchat still on the Moor.

Deans Lane: 2 Spotted Flycatchers.

Saddington Res: Osprey fishing, 3 - 4pm.

Swithland Res: Osprey flew south this evening, also Common Sandpiper & LRP on the overflow.

Tuesday 21st

Birstall Meadows: Spotted Crake showing well this afternoon at the back of the flood by the dead trees. Park only in Holt Road (off Birstall Road) and walk back along Birstall Road towards the Co-op Sports & Social Club. Take the footpath on the left across the field to view the flood. Also 6 Black-tailed Godwits early morning only, and 1 Common Sandpiper.

Cossington Meadows: Redstart in hedge along the main track, past the first bend, also Whinchat on the Moor.

Rutland Water: 2 Little Stints & 2 Garganey, Lagoon 4; Black Tern, North Arm.

Leighfield: Tree Pipit flew south at 10:00.

Stretton: Tree Pipit at George Henry Wood.

Burton Lazars: female/imm Marsh Harrier off Sawgate Lane at 15:00.

Kelham Bridge: 4 Green Sandpipers.

Mounts Lodge: 3 Whinchats.

Monday 20th

Wanlip Meadows: juv Little Gull this morning.

Cossington Meadows: Whinchat, Lower Moor; Green Sandpiper & Common Sandpiper, Hobley Lake.

Deans Lane: 6 Tree Pipits south, also 3 Crossbills.

Sunday 19th

Watermead CP North: female/imm Pied Flycatcher by Kingfisher hide this evening. Nearby, Spotted Redshank & 5 Ruff, Wanlip Meadows.

Juvenile Montagu's Harrier flew west between Stretton & Greetham at 07:55.

Rutland Water: 4 Black Terns, 1 Garganey, 1 Ruff, 2 Greenshanks & 1 Green Sandpiper, North arm.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 2 Garganey till 08:45 when they flew off south.

Eyebrook Res: 1 Green Sandpiper.

Saturday 18th

Rutland Water: Little Stint, Garganey & Black Tern, Lagoon 4; 4 Black Tern & Garganey, North Arm; 2 Garganey, Lagoon 3; drake Scaup, South Arm 3.

Swithland Res: 4 Common Sandpipers on the overflow.

Friday 17th

Rutland Water: 2 Little Stints, Garganey & Black Tern, Lagoon 4; 3 Garganey, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: Marsh Harrier over fields on the Rutland side.

Thursday 16th

Rutland Water: 4 juv Little Stints, Lagoon 4 this morning, plus an adult this afternoon; 2 Garganey + 2 Black Terns, Lagoon 3/4.

Wednesday 15th

Rutland Water: 3 Turnstones, Lagoon 4 + 2 Whimbrels flew over.

Tuesday 14th

Rutland Water: Bittern, Lagoon 3; 5 Black Terns & 2 Garganey, Lagoon 2; 2 Garganey & 2 Ruff, Lagoon 4; Garganey & 2 Black Terns, , North Arm; c13 Green Sandpipers around the reserve.

Eyebrook Res: Marsh Harrier flew through at 15:50.

Monday 13th

Rutland Water: 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Little Stints, Turnstone, Greenshank, Dunlin ,4 Green Sandpipers & 3 Med Gulls, Lagoon 4; 4 Black Terns, North Arm; 7 Garganey around the reserve.

Eyebrook Res: Marsh Harrier.

Sunday 12th

Rutland Water: Bittern again on Lagoon 3.

Cossington Meadows: 2 Common Sandpipers & 5 Snipe, Hobley Lake.

Kelham Bridge: 3 Green Sandpipers.

Saturday 11th

Rutland Water: 2 Little Stints & 6 Greenshanks, Lagoon 4.

Eyebrook Res: Marsh Harrier at the inflow at 15:45.

Friday 10th

Rutland Water: Garganey, Lagoon 3.

Frolesworth Manor Farm: Wheatear again on western edge of paddocks this morning.

Rutland Water: Sanderling, Turnstone & Med Gull, Lagoon 4.

Brascote Pits: 1 Common Sandpiper.

Monday 6th

Wanlip Meadows: 2 Greenshanks. Nearby, Greenshank & 7+ Green Sandpipers, Wanlip North Lakes.

Frolesworth Manor Farm: 1 Wheatear this morning.

Eyebrook Res: Common Sandpiper off Stoke Dry.

Sunday 5th

Rutland Water: Garganey & 14 Dunlin, Lagoon 4; 3 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3; Greenshank, Green Sandpiper & 2 Common Sandpipers, North Arm.

Brascote Pits: 5 Crossbills over this morning, also 3 Green Sandpipers & 1 Common Sandpiper.

Stoughton: 4 Spotted Flycatchers NE of the village at SK655028.

Welby: 2 Turtle Doves.

Saturday 4th

Eyebrook Res: adult Med Gull at the inflow, early afternoon, plus Common Sandpiper.

Friday 3rd

Rutland Water: 2 Garganey, Med Gull & Greenshank, Lagoon 4; Marsh Harrier, Lagoon 1; Turnstone, North Arm; 3 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3; Spotted Flycatcher, Lax Hill; 19 Dunlin, 11 Ringed Plovers, 16 Green Sandpipers & 9 Common Sandpipers around the reserve.

Thursday 2nd

Rutland Water: Greenshank, Common Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpipers, 15 Dunlin & 9 Ringed Plovers, Lagoon 4; 2 Red-crested Pochards & 2 Common Sandpipers, Lagoon 3.

Burrough Hill: 5 Spotted Flycatchers on the edge of Burrough Hill Covert, north of the hill fort.
